Coco Montoya
www.cocomontoya.com
Performs Friday - 7:30 pm

“Blistering contemporary blues…piercing attack, funky, shivery guitar tones and aggressive, soulful vocals.”—Blues Revue

“In a world of blues guitar pretenders, Coco Montoya is the real McCoy. Be prepared to get scorched.”—Billboard

Over the course of his 30-year career, guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya's explosive guitar playing and soul-driven voice have propelled him to the upper reaches of the blues-rock world. It all started with a chance meeting in the mid-1970s with legendary bluesman Albert Collins who offered Montoya a gig as his drummer. Albert took an immediate liking to Montoya becoming his mentor and teaching his new protégé secrets of the Collins "icy hot" style of blues guitar. Five years later, John Mayall happened to catch Montoya at a jam session and was blown away. This led to Montoya's touring the world for ten years with the legendary Bluesbreakers.

Since stepping out as a bandleader in 1993, Coco has performed non-stop at clubs, concert halls and major festivals all over the world. At every show, fans' jaws dropped, and critics raved about Montoya's mind-bending guitar licks and impassioned vocals. It's no coincidence that publications from The Philadelphia Daily News to Blues Revue to Living Blues to The Village Voice all rank Coco among the best guitarists and singers on the blues scene. "Montoya is at the forefront of the contemporary blues world," declared Guitar World. "He is one of the truly gifted blues artists of his generation," said Living Blues. "The fiery blues that issue forth from Coco Montoya's guitar are awe-inspiring and boogie requiring," shouted The Village Voice. "Blistering, pure blues," cheered Blues Revue.

Coco Montoya is one of the most versatile, exciting and innovative blues guitarists performing on the scene today, and we are pleased to have him back in Mammoth!

Their live performances include concerts, clubs and festivals all over the world. Together and separately they have worked on countless film scores, TV soundtracks, commercials and sessions. They've appeared on television internationally, were featured on the "Levi's 501 Blues" commercials, have played for audiences of 300 million via Voice of America, and are frequent guests of National Public Radio. Jonny Lang
www.jonnylang.com
Performs Saturday - 7:30 pm

Jonny Lang burst onto the music scene in 1996 at the age of 15, capturing critical acclaim and worldwide fans. Over a decade later, at the age of 27, Lang has matured into a top live performer, blending blues, funk and rock, while continuing to develop his guitar work and trademark vocals. A professional musician since age 12, Lang rocketed from his hometown of Fargo, North Dakota, to international renown in his mid teens. While kids his age were still playing high school gigs, he was touring with giants like the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith, trading licks with mentors like B. B. King and Buddy Guy, and being lauded by U.S. News and World Report for having “the voice of a grizzled blues veteran … and guitar skills to match.” Today, this Grammy winning, former prodigy instrumentalist, who topped the Billboard New Artist chart with his first album at age 15, stands as a mature creative force. Jonny’s latest record, Turn Around proves that unlike many one-time wunderkind performers, Jonny Lang has grown to exceed the expectations that heralded his ascendance. Jonny’s guitar continues to speak in the language of deep blues and searing rock & roll but now it’s just one voice in a chorus of sounds – the tight band, the passionate singing, and the lyrics that conjure beauty as well as pain and speak the truth, all at the same time.

Chris Cain Band
www.chriscain.cc
Performs Saturday - 5:30 pm

Chris Cain's jazz-tinged, blues soaked guitar and deep, warm vocals have the maturity and authenticity of bluesmen many years his senior. His expressive style is the result of a lifetime of study and the relentless pursuit of music mastery. His passion and intensity are a blend of his mother's Greek ancestry and his father's soulful black heritage. The combination of his blues upbringing and his jazz studies melded to form the searing guitar style that sets Chris Cain apart and has moved him to the top ranks of the blues music scene. Larry Nager, syndicated Scripts-Howard music critic, writes, "Nowadays most young blues players are Strat-wielding Stevie Ray Vaughan-a-be’s. Not Chris Cain. With a voice that recalls B.B. King and a thick toned Gibson guitar sound reminiscent of Albert King, Cain is forging a unique style.” With his own highly personalized songwriting and guitar mastery, Chris Cain is of one of the most compelling young bluesmen on today's scene. He has established himself as a musical force to be reckoned with. And as San Jose Mercury News music reviewer John Orr writes, "more than anyone else, anywhere, Chris Cain represents the future of the blues."

Devon Allman's Honeytribe
www.honeytribe.com
Performs Saturday - 3:00 pm

It’s been a helluva year for Devon Allman’s Honeytribe. Just say the name Allman and many things jump to mind: the epitome of Southern Rock, the original “jam” band, legendary live shows. It’s a lot to live up to, but Devon and his band of tight-knit brothers of different mothers have more then risen to the occasion. Allman, whose voice is reminiscent of his father Gregg, and whose guitar playing calls to mind other six-string gods, has been honing his skills since his early teens. Allman describes the band's sound as "high-octane blues or space age blues”- we call it straight ahead roadhouse rock with a sweet touch of Southern soul and blues.
